News & Observer--Monday, February 28

On the first page of Section B, there's an article about Alpha Iota Omega and King's Park. It seemed to me like the writer was trying to make the students involved, VCM, and King's Park look bad.

Anyone going to AllCapella?

Hey there fellow lifegroupers. Are any of you going to the AllCapella competition at church on Saturday night? I believe tickets are $10.

Friday Night

Hey, it's Friday night and I don't have to work so Sarah and I thought we'd let the more adventurous of you in on one of our semi- weekend traditions of Tandoor's Indian food that we share with Sunghee. Very fabulous and if you are one of the unfortunate who've never experienced South Indian yumminess, it's a good night because they have a buffet with lots of options to try. $10 for everything, located off hwy 55 around 7:45 to 8ish.

Call me if you are coming.

Movie Thursday Night - Hotel Rwanda

For anyone who's interested in seeing "Hotel Rwanda", some folk are going to see it at Southpoint at 6:15pm on Thursday. I was recently told by a friend who saw it that "everyone should see that movie", so here's your chance!

Recent Life Group Pics: Christmas & Cake!

(Well, relatively recent anyway.) I'm a picture postin' fool, I know, I know. The "how to" is explained in the comments under "HOW TO" TIPS. The following pics were taken with my humble 35mm point-&-shoot camera, with no-name outdoor-use film.

CHRISTMAS

Peeps patiently awaiting the gift exchange during our Christmas party...

Samuel & Amy chatting with special guest Jason Mitchell.

Our Charlie Brown Christmas "tree", and under it the wondrous parcels that brought joy to many hearts that night.

The goodies that also brought much joy to everyone. (Hopefully no upset stomachs, though.)

CAKE

Ladies next to one of Slee's fantabulous creations.

A misty-eyed Matt holding his surprise birthday cake.

Good Company

Hey ya'll. Good news. I talked to Julie mancuso (a not so old King's Parker from the days VCM was Waymaker at UNC) and she just took a job in DC so she'll be a fun person to get in touch with while we are there. She offered her extraordinary tour guide services which I think we should definitely take her up on even if we do know where we are going.

"The Passion" to be rereleased in theaters

Just saw a news blub on my roadrunner that "The Passion" is going to be rereleased in time for Easter except Mel edited out some of the more graphic stuff. Not sure of release date.

Happy Valentine's Day!

Coincidence or providence?

This was an apple that I brought to work, to snack on like anyone would. I nonchalantly took a bite, and when I looked at the apple to take the second bite, the heart shape from the first one caught my eye! I'm not kidding! I asked one of the photographers here to take this picture, so I'd have proof, as well as a cool Valentine's Day picture for all my peeps! Feel free to download it if you want.

Ginny Owens Concert

I'm passing on this info I got about a cool concert coming up:

Ginny Owens will be performing at the Chapel Hill Bible Church on Sunday,
February 20th at 7pm. Ginny is a wonderful songwriter and a soulful
performer, and she also has a compelling story. Despite being blind since
the age of two, she is considered one of the best musicians in Nashville
(that's saying something!). She was selected to perform on the Lilith Fair
tour, one of the few Christian acts to do so.
This show is part of the coffee house concert series at the Bible Church,
which means the auditorium will be modified to create an intimate atmosphere
conducive to listening to a great performer. Coffee and light refreshments
will be served.

Tickets are $7 in advance or $10 at the door, and are available at Family
Christian Stores and Lifeway Christian Stores in Raleigh, Durham, and Cary.
Or you can purchase them online at
http://www.itickets.com/events/100620.html, or by calling 800 965-9324. All
tickets are general admission.
For directions, go to http://www.biblechurch.org/about/directions.html. If
you have any questions, please call (877) 754-7425.

ALSO coming soon, look for more information on the first annual Carolina
Hope Festival, a diverse group of artists and musicians responsding to the
challenge of AIDS in Africa, featuring Jars of Clay, Derek Webb, Sandra
McCracken, and many more. This outdoor event will be held at the American
Tobacco Amphitheater in Durham, NC on April 16th.

Friday Night Plans

Recap: Dinner at Moe's Southwest Grill at 7:00 pm and then crossing the street to Southpoint Mall (Ceeece's favorite place) for a movie.

What movie do we want to watch?

The 10 o'clock movies showing are:

Coach Carter @ 10:05
In Good Company @ 9:55
Hitch @ 9:50 & 10:30

If we wanted to eat a bit faster we could make:

Aviator @ 9:05
Finding Neverland @ 9:25
Phantom of the Opera @ 9:25
Million Dollar Baby @ 9:35
Hotel Rwanda
I didn't bother to read what all these were so don't kill me if I picked a bad one. I did neglect to add two horror movies and a chick flick

I'm voting for Coach Carter, Aviator, or Hitch ... Sadly, You all don't seem like the show tune crowd :)

"HOW TO" TIPS

HOW TO POST A MESSAGE VIA E-MAIL:
You can set your preferences to allow you to post to the blog by simply sending an e-mail to an address linked to the blog. To do this, go to your personal "Dashboard" (you can always do this by clicking the Blogger icon at the top left corner of the blog main page), click on "Change Settings", then the "Settings" tab, then the "Email" tab.
On that same page you can also select to receive an email whenever someone posts to the blog.
Awesome!

New Messages vs. Comments Options

Hey cool cats - once we get this blog rollin' and folks are posting like it's goin' outta style, note that you can comment on a message that has already been posted. Like if we're planning details for an event (like the trip to D.C.) and everyone puts in their 2 cents it can all be under one posting. Or if we've got a great theological discussion going, the dialog will all fall chronologically under the initial post.
Let's get this party started!

Cool!

Good job, Sarah! In the near future I may upload pictures from lifegroup, if I can... (Mwa ha ha ha ha...)
