Charleston Pictures, Set 8 of 8!

Too bad we didn't get any pics of Kristin' church. Is it rude to take pictures during a worship service? Anyway, the service was very cool. Shortly after leaving Charleston we stopped for late lunch at none other than The Cracker Barrel. I'm glad we did. Sure, you can find them all over, but some people have never been there. That made it fun; a cultural experience.

Many delicious southern dishes from which to choose, including breakfast which is served all day.

"What's crackin'?" Sorry. I couldn't resist.

Don't you love those little puzzles? We put Gui to the test...

And Jenn, but only Nelvin conquered it--just as I assumed that it couldn't be done!

I like the two pics above.

That's that. Maybe you will come along on the next road trip?

Charleston Pictures, Set 7 of 8

Our first dinner choice was too crowded, so Kristin took us to historic McClellanville for authentic Low Country seafood. T. W. Graham & Co. is the oldest restaurant in this fishing town, first open in the 1800's!

We sat on the patio. Gui and Brandon ordered big combo platters.

Good food.

Just thought I'd add to the picture fun with

some scenes the men's cameras missed out on.

For this, let's use some of Nelvin's pics. (Thanks bro!)

Best picnic I can remember ever having, by far. Lots of good food. Nice weather, friends.... Good stuff.

Sandra, Aeisha, Gui, & Nelvin

Jenn, Brandon, Eddie

Lydia Ruth and Aeisha

Kim and Sandra

Much fun!

Clean-up didn't take long with everyone helping. The fun didn't stop there, of course.

I didn't see this! Battery Park is pretty scenic, being right on the water and all. While we were eating we saw a wedding party actually. Kristin asked me to take a picture of them, but I was chicken.

We all split up from there: some to shop, some to shower and sleep. We'd meet later for din-din.

Happy Birthday Amy! (and Kim!)

Here's some shots from their birthday bizzash at Asuka Japanese Restraunt....

Perusing the menus.... Mmmm.... and it looks like the ladies are talking jewlery.

Enjoying the company...

and gifts! You'll have to ask them about the story behind this.

Some brethren.

...and more of Amy and Kim's adoring fans, enjoying a visit from none other than Amy herself.

Happy stomachs and hearts wishing the birthday sisters well.

RACE DAY: COOPER RIVER BRIDGE RUN!!!!!!!
I'm excited to share these pics because this is the reason why we came, to tackle the challenge of a 10k run together. Behold....

Team KPIC! (unofficial name)

Including the invaluable players Brittany and Kim, and Kristin (not pictured). I'm always amazed by the creativity of people--is this cool or what?! B & K made those shirts as a surprise. After being dropped off at the starting area, us runners had to leave Kristin, Kim and Brittany behind.... (They would meet up with us later.)

Fortunately we were close to a large bank of the porto-potties. I don't know about you, but I have to go when I get really nervous....

After a slight scare with the start of rain, the sky cleared right before the race start. It was in the 60s I guess with the cloud cover, and rain would have made things chilly. From that point, we had to split up because runners were lined according to their self-predicted finish time, so Brandon and I went near the front. Gui and Lydia Ruth ran together, then Sandra and Nelvin, and then Jenn and Aeisha. We waited through a couple renditions of the national anthem, then at 7:00am... we were off, as everyone cheered!

You know I had to do this, right? Behold, an in-run view of the race (see Brandon on the right?!). We were cruising, and I'm lucky I didn't trip and fall. That was a risk I was willing to take to bring you close to the action!!!!!!!

A slightly sharper pic of Brandon ascending onto the bridge (it's hard to hold a camera steady while running). All runners cheered when we got to this part!

We pushed through mile 1... 2... 3... 4... 5... and... 6, until all from our group were FINISHED, and in EXCELLENT time.

Look at these people! They deserve the post-race party thrown for them at the finish on Meeting St.! Jenn was wise to suggest that we all wear the same color. It made finding each other afterwards that much easier.... And after loading up on free goodies and sharing our excitement, we headed towards Battery Park where Kristin had a picnic lunch waiting....

All that hard work, and Kristin sits on the floor!

Here some sistren enjoy food and company....

Smiles all around. The runners/walkers should be well energized for the race....

Charleston Pictures, Set 3 of 8

The food was FANTABULOUS.

To quote the film Undercover Brother, "This chicken is THE BOMB." I asked Brittany how Kristin got that awesome smoky flavor and she said, "Easy. While the chickens are still alive you give them cigarettes." Classic. :)

I think the Olive Garden stole their slogan from Kristin: "When you're here, you're family."

More dinner pics tomorrow....

Charleston Pictures, Set 2 of 8

As fate might have it, two cars that left nearly an hour apart arrived at K's place at the exact same time. I was excited because everyone was in for a treat, Kristin's cooking...

...which we smelled upon entering her stylish flat and meeting a few of her cool friends...

...who were nice enough to help her out.

Our soon-to-return Kristin is not only a culinary artiste, but a real life food professional. On this wall she has stuff from a trade show. Underneath, you see some peeps resting from the drive...

...while K and crew were working hard. What's the verdict on the food? Stay tuned!

Charleston Pictures, Set 1 of 8

People from both Durham lifegroups went to Charleston for the annual April 1 Cooper River Bridge Run. WHAT A FUN WEEKEND. Who went? Kim & Brittany, the fearless cheerleaders, plus runners/walkers (in no particular order): Aeisha, Lydia Ruth, Gui, Nelvin, Sandra, Jenn, Brandon, and myself. Kristin Taber was (again) our amazing host and tourguide, and us guys stayed at Pastor Eric's parents place. (Thank you!)

I got lots of good shots, and I don't even have them all yet as of this writing because the last roll of fim is being developed now. Nelvin, Kristin and Brittany took pics as well. I'm spreading mine out DC Trip style...

All three cars left at different times. Jenn, Sandra, Nelvin and I took one car down. Go Team Protege! On the way, Sandra suggested stopping at South of the Border, and we did. Fun, even if slightly overhyped by all the billboard signs. :) I've been once when I was six, but this day it was someone's first visit. I forgot whose... We took to the place like South of the Border veterans!

Happy Birthday, Jenn!!!!!!!
